RVCC Scrip Program

SFM_600

Major retailers want to give our church money. It’s true!

RVCC is pleased to be participating in a program called “scrip”, the fundraising program that works while you shop. And I KNOW we have some shoppers here! Right? 😉

“Scrip” simply means “substitute money” which can include subway tokens, IOUs, arcade tokens and tickets, as well as “points” on some websites and debit cards. In this case scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers, the same gift certificates that you can buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Cub, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, Holiday, Kwik Trip, iTunes, ebay, Amazon, GameStop even Southwest Airlines, Carnival Cruise and many, many others.

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple — scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to organizations like RVCC at a discount. Families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, redeem them for full face value, and our church keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

  • The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…
  • We get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…
  • You get funds that can be used for just about any RVCC activity!

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for RVCC activities without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and dining out.

For example, everyone needs groceries.  Buy a $100 gift card for Cub Foods and 4% ($4) of the purchase price goes to RVCC. By using scrip you can earn money for a camp, retreat, activity, or mission trip without spending any additional money. And gift cards make great presents for friends, family, or even business clients, etc.

Then YOU receive cash toward the cost of an RVCC activity or mission trip! Even if YOU don’t need the rebates or plan on participating in a trip or activity, you can designate someone who is as the beneficiary of your scrip purchases, or it can go into the general missions fund to be used wherever it is needed.

What do I do?

SWS_largeWe have catalogs of retailers and order forms available in the church’s bookstore before and after service, OR go to Shop With Scrip and browse the gift card options from participating stores. You can create an account to order gift cards directly, using RVCC’s enrollment code 2CF4B2C6366L4.

Orders are placed every Monday by noon and should be available for pick-up the following Sunday morning at the bookstore. If you’re having problems registering/ordering online please e-mail Pastor Greg and he’ll see if he can help figure things out.

All this is without spending a penny more than you already do!

Yeah, you’ll have to think a little bit ahead about what you’re planning , and there is a simple online account set-up, but that’s it.
Even small purchases can add up! Check it out and see if you think it’s do-able for you and your family!
